Beginner to Intermediate Precision Rifle Training
PRECISION RIFLE 101 (PR-101)
Beginner rifle training for ‘novice’ and intermediate rifle shooters. You must have some rifling experience to attend this class, PR-101
Topics will include:
- Range Safety Rules and Range Brief
- Marksmanship Described and Defined
- Fundamentals of Rifle Marksmanship
- Proper Individual Rifle Setup Workshop
- Precision Rifle Glossary of Terms and Definitions
- External Ballistics Trajectory (Basic)
- Scope Definitions, Principles, and Use
- Rifle Data Book
- Firing Solutions
- External Ballistics Wind (Basic)
- Equipment and Gear – use of, care of and keeping the order of it. (Keep your kit tight)
- Rifle Care and Cleaning (students need to have tools for their rifle system)
Live Fire Drills:
- 100-Yard Targets
- Zeroing Drill and Techniques (Paper Target)
- Natural Point of Aim Drill (Paper Target)
- Position Building Drill (Paper Target)
- Cold Bore Shot Principles (Paper and Steel Targets)
Steel Targets 200 Yards to 700 Yards
- Students will engage multiple targets and record personal data
- Introduction to Hold Overs and Hold Unders using a scaled reticle
Equipment list:
- Rifle capable of one minute of angle with a confirmed zero (.30 caliber max)
- Open turret scope (Mil or MOA), Front Focal Plane preferred
- Data Book (Impact Data Book Suggested) **
- Bipod or other front support/ Rear support bag or sock
- Shooting mat
- Cleaning gear and tools for your rifle
- Pen, pencil, and highlighter
- Notebook
- Calculator
- Eye and ear protection
- Long-sleeved shirts and long pants
- Durable boots or footwear
- Rucksack or backpack to carry all gear
- Ammunition (225-250 rounds), match grade or hand loads (see: ammunition policy)
- Bring weather-appropriate gear (be prepared, we shoot in all conditions)
- Hat or ball cap
